The web errand

The answers that live three clicks deep in some website: Pally goes and gets them.

You: does the rei near me have the trail 25 pack in stock?
Pally: checked their site: 3 in stock at the SoMa store, $89. want me to call and put one on hold?
You: yes hold it
Pally: calling them now. i'll text you when it's held.

The routine

How it works

BBrowserPhone

Stock at the local store, the fine print on a booking, the form that only works on desktop. Pally works through real websites in its browser and comes back with the answer, not a link.

  1. Text Pally the question a website is making hard: local stock, a rule in the fine print, a form that won't work on your phone.
  2. Pally opens the real site, works through the pages, and signs in with the login you saved to its password vault when the site needs one.
  3. You get the answer with enough detail to act on.
The full routine

Text Pally the question a website is making hard: local stock, a rule in the fine print, a form that won't work on your phone. Send the link if you have it.

Pally opens the real site, works through the pages, and signs in with the login you saved to its password vault when the site needs one.

You get the answer with enough detail to act on. If the site stops short, Pally can call the business.

Good for

  • Checking whether a specific item is in stock nearby
  • Finding a condition buried in booking fine print
  • Working through a form that is awkward on a phone
  • Confirming details across several layers of a website
  • Following a web answer with a phone call when needed

Things to try

You: check whether the trail pack is in stock at the closest store
You: what does this booking say about changing the date?
You: can you work through this form and tell me what information is missing?
You: if the site can't confirm it, call the store and ask them to hold one

Before you start

Common questions

What should I send with a web errand?

The link if you have it, plus the answer or outcome you need. If you only know the business and item, describe them.

What if the site needs a sign-in?

Pally signs in with the login you saved to its password vault. The first time, it sends one secure link to save it; passwords never go in chat. If the site sends a code, Pally reads it from your email or asks you for it once.

Can Pally call if the site doesn't answer the question?

Yes. Tell Pally to call the business with the remaining question and it reports back in the thread.
