Where Town shines.
Routines with real specificity
Auto-inbox, meeting briefings, research dossiers, competitive intelligence, newsletter digests, relationship reconnects. Town's automation catalog is specific, and each routine is something a real chief of staff would do.
Memory you can open and edit
Your Townie keeps an explicit wiki of clients, projects, deadlines, people, and your writing style. If you want to inspect what your assistant believes and correct it directly, that visible memory is a good interface.
Built for teams
Shared workspaces, pooled credits, org controls, and 50+ integrations across CRMs, project management, files, and analytics. A Townie sits in the company Slack, and Town scales from one power user to a department.
Everywhere you type, free to start
Text your Townie over iMessage, RCS, WhatsApp, or Telegram, message it in Slack, email it, or open its iOS and Mac apps. The free plan is permanent, and new users get seven days of Pro.
What each one costs.

Town
Free · $15/mo Starter
Town has a permanent free plan with 30 chat messages a month, all integrations, and a weekly briefing. Daily briefings, automatic inbox handling, and custom routines require a paid plan. Starter is $15 a month; Pro is $49, Power $99, and Power Plus $199 per user per month billed annually. New signups get a seven-day Pro trial.
Pally
Free
Pally is free, with almost unlimited usage limits. No waitlist or invitation. Cloud Mac is a paid add-on. Every connection, every automation, calls, and its own number and email.
Switching from Town.
Pally's setup is texting a number, and connecting accounts is tapping a link it sends you. No account to create first.
Connect your email and calendar first
Gmail, Outlook, or iCloud Mail, and your calendars. Pally flags what needs you, summarizes the rest, and checks availability, books and moves events.
Then add the rest
Slack, Notion, Linear, GitHub, Drive, your own WhatsApp, your bank, and your own MCP servers. Save logins to its password vault and Pally runs web errands in a browser with them. Add it to group chats, with per-capability grants controlling what it shares from your accounts.
What carries over
Your accounts: Pally works from the email, calendars, and apps you already use. It remembers the people in your life and what matters to them, and you can browse and edit that memory in its web dashboard.
Pally vs Town FAQ.
What is a Townie?
A Townie is Town's AI assistant. It gets its own @town.com email address, learns how you work, and runs to-do lists, routines, and integrations on your behalf, with a wiki that tracks what it knows. Town is aimed squarely at founders, salespeople, recruiters, and teams.
Where can I reach a Townie?
By text over iMessage or RCS, on WhatsApp or Telegram, in Slack, by email, in web chat, or in its iOS and Mac apps. You reach Pally over iMessage, RCS, or Telegram, by email, by calling its number, or from ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI tools.
Does Town work through WhatsApp?
Partly. You can message your Townie on WhatsApp, though it sends no proactive briefings there, and Town says it can't read your own WhatsApp conversations. Pally works the other way round: it manages your WhatsApp as a connected inbox, catching you up on what you missed and replying when you say so.
Can Town make phone calls?
Town doesn't say it can, and calls aren't among its channels. Pally calls businesses for you, waits on hold, and gets through phone menus. Give out its number and Pally picks up, handles the call, and tells you what happened.
Is Town free?
Town has a permanent free plan with 30 chat messages a month and all integrations, plus a seven-day Pro trial for new signups. Daily briefings, automatic inbox handling, and custom routines need a paid plan, from $15 a month. Pally is free.
Which is better, Pally or Town?
Town fits teams that want shared workspaces, a wiki, and admin controls; its free plan allows 30 chat messages a month, while Starter is $15 a month. Pally is free and fits one person's inboxes, calls, and errands.
So how does Pally make money?
Pally plans to earn a fee from merchants when you buy through it. Merchants can never pay to change what Pally recommends to you. Cloud Mac, an optional add-on, is paid.
